Luther McKinley Shumate (Wilkes)

Mr. Luther Mckinley Shumate, 81, of Moravian Falls, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017.

Luther was born on Sunday, February 12, 1936 in Wilkes county to Albert Wayne Shumate and Electa Elmore Shumate.

Luther is preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Gary Lee Shumate; brothers, Albert Shumate, Carl Shumate; sister, Bessie Johnson and Roselee Shew.

Those left to honor his memory are: his wife, Naomi "Sue" Shumate; daughters, Myra Pruitt of Statesville, Annette Jarvis of Wilkes, Loretta McGee of Union Grove; sons, Boyd Shumate of Wilkes, Wayne Shumate and wife, Denna, of Wilkes, 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 1,2017 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel. Pastor Joe Sturgill will be officiating.  Burial will follow at the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Millers Creek.
