Ray Thomas Smithey, 75, of the Brushy Mountain Community, Moravian Falls, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his home. He was born April 20, 1934 in Wilkes County to Rufus and Mary Gentle Smithey. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Terry Smithey; one sister and one brother.

 

Survivors include: his wife, Audrey Davidson Smithey of the home; one daughter, Karen Myers and husband Jimmy of Wilkesboro; one son, Micheal Smithey and wife Anita of Purlear; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be 3:00 o’clock Thursday at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Jonah Parker and Rev. Roger Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bethany Baptist Church from 2:00 until 3:00 o’clock on Thursday prior to the service.
