            Janet Smith Herndon, 66, of Paul Payne Store Road, Taylorsville died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the residence..
            She was born February 1, 1944 in Kellysville, West VA, the daughter of Rev. Allen F. Smith and Faye Whitlow Smith of Lake Wales, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Mr. Joseph and Bertha Herndon along with her sister, Donette Neinaber.
She was a member of Taylorsville Presbyterian Church. Through out her professional life she worked as a secretary for the District Attorney’s office in Orlando, Florida, Alexvale Furniture in Taylorsville and Alexander County Department of Social Sevices before retiring.
            Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband of 46 years, Mr.  Francis “Frank” Paul Herndon of the home; one daughter, Sherri Lynn Troup and husband, John “Guppy” Troup of Taylorsville; one son, Bryan Allen Herndon and wife, Cindy Herndon of Taylorsville; four grandsons, Kyle Paul Marshall Troup, Tyler Douglas Troup, Justin Perry and Cameron Perry all of Taylorsville; one sister, Calida Crawford of Dundee, Florida; three brothers-in-law, Mr. William Herndon and wife Evelyn Herndon of Valdosta, Georgia, Mr. Edmond Herndon of Michigan and Pete Neinaber of Slidell, Louisiana.
            A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Taylorsville Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Paul Sink.  Inurnment will follow in the church memorial garden.
            The family will receive following the service.
            In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Taylorsville Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, P. O. Box 507, Taylorsville, NC 28681 or to Hospice of Alexander County, 50 Lucy Echerd Lane, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
