Georgia Clara Smith Warren
Georgia Clara Smith Warren, 81, of 275 Airport Road, Taylorsville, went home to be with her Savior Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in her home surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness.
She was born February 22, 1929, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Alfred M. Smith and Lydia C. Treadway Smith Ellis Holder. She was retired from Carolina Glove Company and a homemaker. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for some fifty-eight years where she served as a Sunday school teacher.
Left to cherish her memory is her faithful husband, Dwight Warren, of almost sixty-three years, two sons, Rodney (Patsy) Warren, Brent (Monique) Warren; two daughters, Kay (James) Bumgarner, all of Taylorsville, and Joy (Paul) McCain of Joppa, Alabama.
Twelve grandchildren and spouses surviving her are Darren (Ashley) Warren, Faith (Shane) Phillips, Joel (Janet) Warren, Mark (Donna) Bumgarner, Jermy (Kristin) Bumgarner, Brandon (Traci) McCain, Ben McCain, Joseph (Krystal) McCain, Jerusha Pierce, Kelly Warren, Leticia (Mike) Dye, and Weston Warren.
She is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren—Ethan and Joshua Warren, Shea, Michael, and Charity Phillips, Kara and Leah Cody, Cole and Chloe Bumgarner, Kelsey and Jaxon Bumgarner, Chase and Brody McCain, Blayne Crawford, Cameron Pierce and Christian McCulloch; and a sister, Leona (James) Lackey of Taylorsville.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 3 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 5th Ave NE in Taylorsville, with Reverend Stephen Dagenhart, Reverend James Bumgarner, and Jermy Bumgarner officiating. Burial will follow in the Millersville Baptist Cemetery with Reverend Bill Orren officiating. The family will receive friends at Calvary Baptist Church, on Wednesday from 6 until 8 pm and at other times will assemble at the residence.
The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
