Joyce Dean (Miller) Whittington

Mrs. Joyce Dean Miller Whittington,81, of Wilkes passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center. 

Joyce was born on December 21, 1942 in Wilkes County to Earnest Theodore Miller and Florence Belle Laws Miller.

She had a great love for making baskets, flowers and crafts.  Joyce also loved visiting the Beach. 

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Allen Whittington, sisters, Ernestine Miller Crump and Glenda Jean Miller. 

Joyce is survived by her sons, Robert Whittington of Wilkesboro, Tony Whittington and wife, Alma of Winston Salem, Ricky Whittington and wife, Lori of Millers Creek; sisters, Winnie Austin of Lenoir, Joan Miller of Lenoir, Annie Pauline Philyaw and husband, Jerry Brown of North Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Christopher Whittington and wife, Cari, Brooke Adeline Whittington, Caleb Whittington, Morgan Whittington and great grandchildren, Samuel Whittington and Dawson Sullivan and many extended family members in both Wilkes and Caldwell.  

The funeral service will be held 2p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Antioch Baptist Church of Wilkesboro. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Rev. Ken Pardue will be officiating. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Antioch Baptist Church of Wilkesboro Food Pantry, 1298 Antioch Baptist Church Road Wilkesboro, NC 28597.
