Mrs. Barbara Jean Allen, 73, of Sulphur Springs Road, Hiddenite, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at her residence.
Mrs. Allen was born June 26, 1944 in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late Eugene Andrew Smith and Ocie Milam Smith James.
She had worked for Hospice Home Care as a CNA and was a member of Linney Grove Baptist Church. She loved crafts and especially flower arranging.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, James “Jimmy” Allen, Jr.; a daughter, Ella Mae Allen Scott; a sister, Ella Mae Smith; a brother, Greer Sams.
Those left to cherish her memory include: a son, Richard Allen and wife, Sherry, of Hiddenite; grandchild, Courtney MaClain and husband, Darrin; great-granddaughter, Rory Ellamae MaClain; son-in-law, Steve Scott; sister, Kathleen Davis of Marion; brother and sister-in-law, Richard B. and Virginia Joy Elder, brother and sister-in-law, Carl M. and Tina Allen; two brothers, Kenneth Smith and wife, Gail, of Yadkinville, Eddie Junior Meadows of Kernersville; a number of nieces and nephews; two best friends, Peggy Johnson and Kathleen Franklin; her pet, Buddy.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 27, 2018 at White Plains Baptist Church. Rev. Tony Daniels will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 p.m. prior to the service.
