David Paul Chapman

            Mr. David Paul Chapman, 79, of Stony Point, left this world for his eternal home on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 following an automobile accident.

            Mr. Chapman was born September 28, 1938 in Alexander County, the son of the late David Earl “Ted” Chapman and Emma Dagenhart Chapman.

            He retired from Kewaunee Scientific Corp in Statesville after 35 years of service. He loved tinkering with cars, auto racing, being outside, going to events with his grandchildren and spending time with his family. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church and was a huge supporter of the Stony Point Volunteer Fire Department.

            Including his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife of 53 years, Linda Kay Keever Chapman; a sister, Milford Chapman White; three brothers, Thomas Claude "Bun" Chapman, Phillip Avery "Phil" Chapman, Billy Shaw "Bill" Chapman.

            Those left to cherish and honor his memory include: two sons, Keith Chapman and wife, Katherine, of Taylorsville, Dennis Chapman and wife, Vickie, of Taylorsville; a daughter, Donna Cockrell and husband, Chad of Stony Point; eight grandchildren, Chris Chapman, Stephen Walker and wife, Misty, Andrea Sherrill and husband, Brian, Tennille Hileman and husband, Randy, Tia Fox and husband, Justin, Tiffany Brown and husband, Alex, Colby Cockrell, Lindy Cockrell; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler Chapman, Cohen and Kingston Sherrill, Maddox and Shyla Hileman, Finley Fox, Cadence, Layah, and Decklan Brown; two more great-grandchildren due later this year; and numerous nieces and nephews that were all very special to him.

            The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Lebanon Baptist Church. Revs. Keith Childers and Eddie Jolly will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

            The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2018 at Adams Funeral Home.

            Pallbearers include: Chris Chapman, Colby Cockrell, Johnny D. Chapman, Shannon Chapman, Grayson Chapman, Coleman Chapman, Scotty Abernathy, and Jacob Abernathy.

            Honorary pallbearers include: Tommy Chapman, Johnny H. Chapman, and Larry Chapman.
