David Carl Gaskin

            David Carl Gaskin, 55, passed away on June 23, 2018 in Cochran, GA.

            David was born September 9, 1962 in Dade City, FL., the second son of Joseph Carl and Evelyn Jane Gaskin.

            The family moved to NC in 1971, where David graduated from Alexander Central High School, then spent two years in the US Navy. He worked hard all his life to support his family. He was a heavy equipment operator for Bluegrass Material of Edgefield, SC and was known as the best operator around. David loved his family and to them he was the best husband, father, grandfather, son and brother that God could have given them. He was an avid NASCAR fan, particularly Kasey Kahne.

            In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by: an infant brother, John Melvin Gaskin.

            Those left to cherish his memory include: his beloved wife, Shelia Elizabeth Clark Gaskin of Cochran, GA; his mother, Evelyn J. Quillen and husband, John D.; children, Lakeai Harrison of Hiddenite, Ryan Geelan of NC, Jamie Allen, Brittany Allen, Shayne Genneken all of Cochran, GA, Casey Wells of VT; six grandchildren, Izak , Damien, Eli, Ella, Elayna and Lizzie Grace; brother, Marty Joseph Gaskin; sister, Jana Marie Baker and husband, Brian; nephews, Devon Lee Baker, Marty Joseph Gaskin, Jr. and wife, Barbara, Jason Carl Gaskin and wife, Betty; nieces, Candace Lynne Mitchell, Brandi Marie Baker; great nieces and nephews, Lexus, Marty III, Dalton, Harley, Blake, Isabella.

             The family will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m., Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Alexander County Senior Center, 730 7th Street SW, Taylorsville, NC 28681. Everyone is welcome to attend.

            Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel and crematory served the family in GA.
