Doris Irene Gay

            Ms. Doris Irene Gay, 85, of 2nd Avenue NW, Mountain Wood Apts., Taylorsville, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Valley Nursing Center.

            Ms. Gay was born February 1, 1932 in Union County, NC, the daughter of the late Leonard Crowley and Lydia Mae Crump Crowley.

            She had worked for Tyson Food before retiring and was of the Baptist faith.  She loved her Chihuahua puppies and she had a green thumb, could grow anything.  She loved the outdoors and her favorite food was cornbread and milk.

            Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Delane Eller and a son, Austin Cook.

            Those left to cherish her memory include: three daughters, Helen Losito and husband, Rocco, of Moncks Corner, SC, Mae Thomas of Monroe, Bernice Carlson and husband, Wayne, of Macon, GA; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Remerle Hinson of Mecklenburg.

            No formal services are planned.
