Mr. Dwight Douglas Killian, 72, of Hickory, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
Mr. Killian was born January 24, 1943 in Catawba County to the late Joe Killian and Byrlea Bumgarner Killian.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, who had served in the Vietnam Era. He was retired from Vanguard Furniture, where he worked in product development.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by: two brothers, Howard and Sam Killian; a sister, Judy Killian Wilson.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife of 45 years, Betty Barber Killian of the home; two sons, Danny Killian and Bryan Killian, both of Hickory; two grandchildren, Brianna Fox of Taylorsville and Darrien Killian of the home; three brothers, Bob Killian and wife, Nancy, of Hickory, Jerry Killian and special friend, Jane, of Conover, Steve Killian and wife, Phyllis, of Hickory; sister-in-law, Annie Killian of Hickory; brother-in-law, Bill Wilson of Conover.
The funeral service will be 4 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Smyrna Baptist Church. Mr. Killian will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The Rev. Michael Barber will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors accorded by DAV Chapter 84 of Taylorsville.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2015 at Smyrna Baptist Church.
