Emogene M. Barnette

            Ms. Emogene M. Barnette, 86, of Sulphur Springs Road, Hiddenite, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Valley Nursing Center.

            Emogene was born July 17, 1933 in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Burgess Millsaps and Nell Campbell Millsaps.

            She had worked for Nationwide Insurance in Raleigh before retiring. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano, gardening but most of all she loved the Lord and her family.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: brother, Jennis Millsaps and a daughter-in-law, Beverly Barnette.

Those left to cherish her memory include: her sons, Dennis Barnette, Donald Barnette and wife, Susan, Douglas Barnette and wife, Wanda, Dean Barnette; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren whom she loved very much; her brothers, Billy Millsaps and wife, Cozette, Bobby Millsaps and wife, Lois, Larry Millsaps and wife, Joy; and her sister, Lorene Wallace.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2019 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Don Ingle will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
