Mrs. Frances Emo Dagenhart Elder, 96, of Sunrise Terrace, Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Accordius Health Care at Clemmons.
Mrs. Elder was born August 19, 1921 in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Ed Dagenhart and Clara Warren Dagenhart.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Forrest Hill Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother and wife, a great gardener, excellent cook, seamstress, a quiet kind soul, and her persimmon pudding was legendary.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Buford Curtis Elder; two sisters, Hazel Barnes, Thelma Bumgarner; three brothers, Euell Dagenhart, Earl Dagenhart, Paul Dagenhart; a grandson, Jason Alan Elder.
Those left to cherish her memory include: two daughters, Donnie Mason Zickus of Seminole, FL, Sharon Lorraine Elder of Winston-Salem; a son, Alan Curtis Elder of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Reginald G. Mason, III, Teddie “Sonny” Gray Cayton, Jr., Tracy Baker; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service is 3 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Carsons Chapel United Methodist Church. Rev. Elbert Goble will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elder Family Cemetery at Carsons Chapel.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
