Janet S. Gemes

            Mrs. Janet S. Gemes, age 67, of Troutman, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at her residence.

            Janet was born November 18, 1951 in Ashe County, the daughter of Helen Neaves Asbury of West Jefferson and the late Tom Asbury.

            She was of the Christian faith and loved her family and was a devoted wife to Edward, who is now gone to be with him. She enjoyed the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

            She is preceded in death by: her father, Tom Asbury; her husband, Edward Lee Gemes; grandchildren, Austin Johnson, Elizabeth Gemes, Gabbie Gemes; son-in-law, Dennis Anderson.

            Those left to cherish her memory include: a daughter, Missy Anderson of Troutman; a son, Jay Johnson of Indian Trail; three step-sons, Gary Gemes of Statesville, David Gemes of Lincolnton, Richard Gemes of Statesville; four sisters, Mae Lafferty, Maggie Layne and husband, Jim, Cookie Stanley, Linda Hernandez and husband, Tim; three brothers, Joe Stanley and wife, Brenda, Jerry Stanley, John Asbury; 17 grandchildren, Marie Gemes, Karl Gemes and wife, Aprille, Kimberly Hart and husband, Dysheem, Lee Gemes and wife, Tara, Hayley Mash and husband, Ethan, Harley Anderson, Vicky Gemes, Chrissy Lowery and husband, Jake, Samuel Gemes, Christian Gemes, Riley Gemes, Adam Johnson, Cole Johnson, Jake Johnson, Eddie Gemes, Maddie Gemes, and Landon Gemes; 12 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

            A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2019 at Howell Hill Community Cemetery in Lansing, NC. Pastor Nathan Kaprella will officiate.
