Jimmy Roger Gibson, Sr.

            Mr. Jimmy Roger Gibson, Sr., 74, of South Chestnut Street, Gastonia, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Valley Nursing Center.

            Mr. Gibson was born May 22, 1944 in Mecklenburg County, to the late Grady Reid Gibson and Anna Lee McSwain.

            He had worked in a printing shop and was of the Baptist faith. He had won many PICA awards for career. He was a train collector, reading train books, watching photography and listening to scanners for trains.

            Including his parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, Jimmy Gibson, Jr. “Little Jim”; a brother, William “Bill” Gibson.

            Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife, Ruby Brooks Gibson; a daughter, Jennifer Gibson; two sons, Justin Gibson, Troy Gibson; two grandchildren, JR. Gibson, Pam Duncan; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cynthia Gibson, Renee Ferguson; a brother, Ronald Gibson.

            The family will conduct a memorial service from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Rankin Lake (Lake Front).
