Shirley May (Braswell) Martin (Wilkes)

Mrs. Shirley May Braswell Martin, 86, of Millers Creek, passed away on Friday, September 07, 2018 at Westwood Hills Nursing Facility.

Shirley was born on January 8, 1932 in Wilkes County to the late Charles Wesley Braswell and Clara Walsh Braswell.

Shirley was the wife of the late Eugene B. Martin.  She was a Member of the Beaver Creek Advent Christian Church in Ferguson where she served many years as treasurer, children’s Sunday school teacher, and choir member.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Wilma Jean Braswell and brother, James Burgan Braswell.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Linda Martin Miles ( Keith) of Millers Creek, Paula Martin Smith of Millers Creek; son, Jay Gregory “Rocky” Martin of Millers Creek; five grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Milam of Millers Creek, Brandon, (Charlene) Miles of Wilkesboro, Keena (Tony) Eller of Millers Creek, Bobby (Cassandra) Lambert of North Wilkesboro, Jay Gregory (Bridget) Martin, Jr. of  Oregon, eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, E.N. “Dick” (Flora) Braswell of Lenoir, Jack Braswell of Ferguson and many nieces and nephews.

The family will conduct a private service at a later date.
