Barbara Ann Burns

            Barbara Ann Burns, age 86, of Claremont, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at her home.

            Barbara was born August 25, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Orland Johnson and Francis Johnson.

            Barbara was a bookkeeper for the City of Hickory for a number of years and a member of Millersville Baptist Church. She was a great artist and loved to play the organ. She enjoyed sewing, doll house making, and an excellent cook.

            Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Bonnie Sue Fox; a grandson, Matthew Campbell; a brother, Dale Johnson.

            Those left to cherish and honor Barbara’s memories include: her husband of 54 years, Bobby Burns of the home; her daughters, Pamela Elizabeth Mull of Taylorsville, Julie Ann Costner (Todd) of Morganton; her son, Scott Campbell (Rauna) of Morganton; her grandchildren, Ashley Whistlehunt, Aubrey Mull, Kelly Smith, Sydney Landis, Ryan Campbell, Emily Campbell, Stephen Campbell; her great-grandchildren, Eli Cruz, Riggs Campbell, Dara Perez.

            The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Millersville Baptist Church. Pastor Bill Orren will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

            The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. prior to the service.
