Betty Louise Deal Martin, age 91, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at her home.
Betty was born on October 14, 1933, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Jacob Calvin Deal and Esther Childers Deal.
She worked as a sewer for Broyhill for many years, and she was known as “Nanny’ to the many children that she cared for and loved. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Including her parents she was preceded in death by: her first husband, George Junior Deal; her second husband, Foster Glen Martin; four brothers; and three sisters.
Those left to honor and cherish her memories include: her daughters, Joy Millsaps of Hiddenite, Cathy Keever of Conover; her son, Randy Deal (Donna) of Claremont; her step-daughter, Sherry Jones (Sam) and family of Franklin, NC; her grandchildren, Brandon (Bobbi) Millsaps, David Keever, Kerri Keever (Jenny); her step-grandchildren Mitzi Davis (Rick) and family, Shawn Millsaps (Rita) and family; her great-grandchildren, Mya Keever, Eloise Keever, Jenevieve Keever, and one on the way; her sisters, Patsy McDermott (John) of Maryland, Debbie Coffey (Roger) of Collettsville, NC; her brother, Richard Deal of Taylorsville; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Pastor Tim Jolly and Reverend Lander Heafner will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
