Betty Morrison

Betty Ruth Morrison, 86, of Jefferson Street in Statesville (formally of college Rd EXT Taylorsville), went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 12, 1936 in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Luceal Smith and Jobey Millsaps.

                Betty was a furniture worker with GE, Rubbermaid, and Burlington in Statesville, NC. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center and putting together puzzles. In her younger years she enjoyed playing softball, but what brought her the most joy was sitting on the porch and being with her great-great-grandson, who was the light of her day.

                In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Paulette Jones; three brothers; Mack, Boyce, and James Smith; and a sister, Florlee.

                Those left to cherish and honor her memory include: a sister, Mary Clark; one granddaughter, Anitra Jones of Statesville; a grandson, Jae Jones of Taylorsville; six great-grand-children, Jonathan Dockery of Greensboro, Amanda and Jasia Jones of Statesville, Jacorrie Jones of Monroe, Terrel Wise in the United States Army, and Jada Jones of Winston Salem; four great-great-grandchildren, Kamden Jones, Aburee Jones, Kaidence Jones-Mcclean, and Stoni Dockery; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her very special family at the Senior Center of Taylorsville.

                The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel, burial will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Sterling Howard will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 1p.m. until 2p.m. prior to the service.
