Betty Stevenson, age 88, of Hiddenite, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Betty was born July 26, 1936, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Jay Elder and Margaret Burke Elder.
She was a self-employed bookkeeper and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and going out to eat.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Jinks Walter Stevenson; her sisters, Connie Nance, Muriel Montieth; her grandson, Billy “Bubba” Pierce.
Those left to cherish and honor her memories include: her daughter, Sandy Hodge (Keith) of Hiddenite; her son, Marty Stevenson (Sandra) of Hiddenite; her grandchildren, Johnny Hodge and girlfriend, Jasmine, Jackie Bowman (Michael) of the Wittenburg Community; her great-grandchildren, Ashley Withers and husband, Trey, Emily Bowman; her brother, Roger Elder of Taylorsville; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2024 at Bethel Baptist Church with a graveside service to follow at 3 p.m. in the church cemetery. Pastor Taylor Miller and Pastor Lloyd Jarvis will officiate.
Jason McCurdy, Zack McCurdy, Zander McCurdy, Johnny Hodge, Jacob Burkes, and Jackson Walker will serve as pallbearers.
