Mrs. Beulah Pope Kerley, 96, of Lambert Fork Road, Taylorsville, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Gordon Hospice House.
Mrs. Kerley was born June 14, 1922 in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Ellick Jolly and Grace Pope.
She was first and foremost a loving homemaker, always serving others. In her early years, she was employed in the textiles and then later on was employed at Shady Rest Home and Alexander County Hospital. She was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church and a precious loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and enjoyed visits from friends and family. She always had an open door. She enjoyed gardening, canning food and sewing.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Ollard Daniel Kerley; a son Argene Daniel Kerley; a brother, Arnold Kerley.
Those left to cherish her memory include: grandchildren, Sandra D. Wike of Taylorsville, Patricia Jean Lackey and husband, Rusty, of Taylorsville; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Dubonn and husband, John, Jonathan Wike and wife, Bethany, Stephanie Byrd and husband, Josh, Whitney Bentley and husband, Brian, Kaitlen Wike, Roman Lackey; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Effie Deal of Taylorsville; two special ladies, as a second mother, Jo Ann Gant and Sue Greene.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Victory Baptist Church. Pastor’s Phillip Coffey and Josh Byrd will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Kerley requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to: Victory Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 5096 NC Hwy 16 North, Taylorsville, NC 28681, other special donations to: Heart Foundation, www.theheartfoundation.org, in honor to her son, American Cancer Society, Local Chapter, C/O Kendra Dyson, 57 Kendra Lane, Taylorsville, NC 28681, in honor of her husband.
