Bob Tannehill

            Bob Tannehill, age 95, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Bermuda Commons. Bob was born April 14, 1931, in Alexander County, the son of Stanley Tannehill and Estelle Smith Tannehill.

            Bob was a native of the Brushy Mountain section of Alexander County, where he lived around his grandparents and great-grandparents during his youth. He attended schools in North Carolina and Kansas City, MO, and proudly served in the United States Army, as a paratrooper during the Korean Conflict. He spent years as a newspaper editor, reporter for television and radio, public relations person for a large hospital; plus serving on various business and civic boards.  

Bob was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, where he taught Sunday school. He was the author of two published books, Britches and Stitches and Memory’s Garden. This is a verse from the poem Sometimes; “Sometimes the hardest part of loving… is simply letting go.”

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley “Butch” Tannehill.

Those left to cherish and honor Bob’s memories include: his daughter, Taffi Lyle (Randy) of Clemmons, NC; his son, Lance Tannehill of Winston, Salem, NC; his grandchildren, Sydney Lyle and Ian Tannehill; his sister, Patsy Colvard (Mack) of SC.

A Graveside Service will be held at Fellowship Advent Christian Church at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2026. Pastor Michael Bassett will officiate.
