Mr. Bobby Ray Barnes, age 71, of Taylorsville, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at his residence.
Bobby Barnes was born July 16, 1949 in Alexander County, the son of Lorene Pennell Barnes of Taylorsville and the late Thomas Franklin Barnes.
He was a US Army veteran, who served during the Vietnam War and was of the Lutheran faith. He had worked as a logger, poultry farmer, and sawyer. He loved his family especially the grandchildren, and many others that he met along life’s way. He was a dedicated hard worker and a very giving person.
Including his father, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Linda Carol Rimer Barnes; and brother, Robert Barnes; brother-in-law, Gene Chatham; sister-in-law Mardesa Barnes;.
Including his mother, those left to cherish and honor his memory include: his children, Chad Lee Barnes (Chuck) of Lenoir, Anthony Thomas Martin Barnes (Aislinn) of Taylorsville, Laura Barrier (Aaron) of Spruce Pine, Paul Bryan Walker (Keely), of Concord; sister, Brenda Chatham; grandchildren, Annie Barnes, Sarah Barnes, Ashlynn Barnes, JoAnn Mullinix (Chip), Daniel Barrier (Hannah), Dylan Barrier (Amber), Jackson Wood, Paul Bryan II, Bethany Walker, Brianna Walker, Bryson Walker, Grayson Jewell, Lacie Jewell; great-grandchildren, Carson, Caleb, Victoria, Jolie, Scout, Archer, Blaise; nephew, Brian Barnes and his children Logan and Breanah Barnes; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery with full military honors accorded by Alexander County Veterans Honor Guard. Pastor Jonathan Foster will officiate.
