Connie Gilmore "Pop" Stine

            Connie Gilmore “Pop” Stine, age 92, of Taylorsville, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022 at his home.

            He was born August 17, 1929 in Alexander County, the son of the late Jay Lee Stine and Cordie Mays Stine.

            He was a US Air Force veteran, who served four years during the Korean Conflict as a Aircraft mechanic and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid woodworker, making checker boards, lamps and all types of musical instruments. He enjoyed gardening; he had a green thumb. He loved his family very much and also enjoyed cooking and eating. His wish was that Patty would be taken care of.

            Including his parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, Jamie Stine; a sister, Elaine Hammer and brother, Rayford Stine.

            Those left to cherish and honor his memories include: his wife, Patricia Jane Stine of the home; his daughter, Jill Stine Teague (Brian) of Taylorsville; his sons, Joey D. Stine (Kimberly Walker), Jeffrey L. Stine (Tiffany) all of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Joli Stine James (Brent), Julie Stine Campbell (Travis), Jodie Stine Brookshire (Barry), Catie Stine Matlock (Jacob), Jay Lee Stine (Ashley), Daniel Shugart (girlfriend, Kayla), Jayden Stine (Bell and her daughter, Kalie “Jamie’s buddy”), Jacie Stine; great-grandchildren, Jerimiah and Bryson Brookshire, Tyler, Cassidy, and Payton Campbell, Jade James.
