Darlene “Dolly” Estes, age 74, of Olin, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
She was born July 26, 1950, in Granville County, NC, the daughter of the late Willie Inscoe, Sr. and Elsie Smith Inscoe.
Dolly worked in the furniture industry for most of her working career. She was a member of Sandy Ridge Methodist Church in Statesville. She loved attending church and hearing the songs of the church. She enjoyed listening to music, yard selling, going to thrift stores, and her favorite place to travel was Gatlinburg, TN. She loved the holidays especially Halloween which was her favorite.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Fred Lee Estes, Sr.; her sons, Fred Lee Estes, Jr., Richard “Bug” Estes; her sister, Shirley Orrell; her brothers, Billy Boy Inscoe, William Inscoe, Danny Inscoe; her nephew, Joe Bullock.
Those left to cherish and honor her memories include: her daughters, Shirley Moore (Mike) of Mocksville, Squirt Marlowe (Joe) of Iredell County; her son, Pee Wee Estes (Michelle) of Statesville; her partner of 20 years, Ted O’Neill; her brother, Mike Inscoe (Styx) of Harmony; her niece, Carrie Bullock; her grandson and caretaker, Richard “Ricky” Estes; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will have a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Sandy Ridge Methodist Church in Statesville. Pastor Mark Reavill will officiate.
