Doretha Lawal

            Doretha Lawal was born on February 15, 1951 to Roland Stokes and Wilma Jean Newland Stokes of Taylorsville, NC. She departed this life on June 4, 2024.

            Doretha Lawal was a devoted member of Redeeming Love Christian Center for over twenty years and made long lasting friendships there as well.

            Doretha enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, talking over some good food, laughing and enjoying life. She also enjoyed relaxing and watching her old shows like ‘Murder She Wrote’ and ‘Rawhide’.

            Doretha loved the sunshine and the beach. She would take trips to Atlantic City and with her daughter every chance she could. Doretha loved being happy.

            She touched many lives with her love, kindness, and generosity. She leaves to mourn in her passing: daughter, Zada Dunn; grandson, Emmanuel Dunn; brother, Ernest Stokes and sister, Teherrah Hassan. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.

            A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024 in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
