Doretha Mae Scott, age 79, of Taylorsville, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Taylorsville House.
Doretha was born May 28, 1945, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Eli Scott and Leola King Scott.
Doretha was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church on Hwy 90 East. She graduated from Happy Plains School. She was a factory worker and caregiver. She was a great baby sitter for her family and friends in the community. She enjoyed to cook for others.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: four brothers, J.C. Scott, Willie Scott, Richard Scott, Avon Scott; two sisters, Dorothy Scott, Daisy Gibbs Dula; two nephews, Ernest Scott, Jimmy Scott.
Those left to cherish and honor her memory include: her sister, Marjorie Scott of Taylorsville; her brothers, Melvin Scott of Taylorsville, Robert Scott of High Point; her God-daughter, Becky Hayes; her God-son, Jayceon Johnson of Taylorsville; special friends, Mrs. Georgia Flowers, Mrs. Glenda T. Bowers, Garfield Teague; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The Home-going Service will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2024, in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Sterling Howard and Pastor William Little will officiate.
