Douglas Wayne Harrington, age 58, of Taylorsville, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville,
Douglas was born February 22, 1966, in Alexander County, the son of Dwight Harrington and the late Dorothy Bentley Harrington.
Douglas had worked at Broyhill Furniture until he became disabled. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, mowing grass, target practice but later in life he enjoyed watching the birds and sending cards.
Including his mother, he was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Evleyn Mullis, Lola Bentley, Acie Bentley; mother-in-law, Louise Freeman; brother-in-law, Rickey Lee Elder; sister-in-law, Barbara Davis; father-in-law, Chaunce Elder; cousin, Eric Bentley.
In addition to his father, those left to cherish and honor his memories include: his wife, Jessie Beth Elder Harrington of the home; his aunts, Shelley Mullis, Debbie Harrington (Nicky); his uncles, Kenny Harrington (Sylvia), Barry Mullis (Sandy); special cousin, Misty Elder (AJ); sisters-in-law, Bonnie Elder, Pam Wiles; second mothers, Clara Tevepaugh, Renea Auton, Jean Cline; fur baby, Monkey the Cat; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Pastor Tim Jolly, Pastor Tony Daniels, Pastor Sammy Kiser will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Pallbearers include: Kenny Cline, Bryan Tevepaugh, Ricky Speaks, James Speaks, Jessie Hall, James Clearwood, John Clearwood, Joseph Auton. Honorary pallbearers include: Gordon Clearwood, James Harrington, Joel Tevepaugh, Jimmy Kerley, and Jeffery Kerley.
