Elline (Deal) Lackey

            Mrs. Elline Deal Lackey, age 90, of Taylorsville, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Frye Regional Medical Center.

            Elline was born May 13, 1931 in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Irvin Y. Deal and Mattie Lowe Deal.   

            She was a housewife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. Elline was a member of the Eastern Star, where she held several positions. She was a good Christian person who lived her faith everyday. Family was of the most importance to her especially her husband, children and grandchildren.

            Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, French C. Lackey.

            Those left to cherish and honor her memory include: her daughter, Debbie Shew of Taylorsville; her sons, Dennis W. Lackey (Donna) of Taylorsville, Kevin B. Lackey of Jacksonville, FL, Dean Lackey of Claremont, NC; her grandchildren, Denise Shew of Taylorsville, Kristin Bost of The Woodlands, TX, Amanda Carpenter (Chad) of Sparta, NC, Dustin Lackey (Debra) of Taylorsville; son-in-law, Bobby Shew of Taylorsville; her sisters, Marie Childers and Vivian Davis (Larry) all of Taylorsville; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

            The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Taylorsville; Rev. Lisa Wolfe and family friend, Joe Dennis will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.

            The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 p.m., prior to the service at the church. The body will lie-in-state from 9 a.m. until noon, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Adams Funeral Home.

            Pallbearers include: Sheriff Chris Bowman, Capt. Phillip Starnes, Sgt. Travis Pennell, Corp. Jordan Roy, Dep. John Millsaps, Lt. Shannon Roberts, and Lt. Tim Simms. 

            Honorary pallbearers include: Steven Childers, Michael Davis, Brent Davis, Nick Pardue, Charles Lowrance, and Eric Kerley.
