Emma Jean Hollar, age 84, of Taylorsville, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Taylorsville House following a brief illness.
Emma Jean was born August 18, 1940, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Hyder R. Bowman and Chancy Bowman Bowman.
She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. She finished Cosmetology classes, but most of her working career was in furniture at Clayton Marcus. She took pride in her home, family, and yard.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jimmy Powell Hollar.
Those left to cherish and honor Emma Jean’s memories include: her son, Jeffrey Hollar and wife, Michelle, of Taylorsville; her sister, Marguerite Bowman Morrow of Taylorsville; her brother, Lanny Bowman of Taylorsville; her sister-in-law, Linda Hollar Sells of Mooresville; her nieces, Dawn Martin, Tammy Morrow, Brittni Bowman; her nephews, Colter Bowman, Ethan Bowman, Todd Morrow, Ritchie Setzer, Tracy Setzer, Johnny Sells; and a number of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m., Monday, July 7, 2025, at Smyrna Baptist Church. Pastor Mitch King will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. prior to the service.
