Emma Jean Wellman Rankin, age 74, of Taylorsville, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, at her home.
Emma was born February 25, 1951, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Roland Wellman and Mary Lou Miller Wellman.
Emma had worked as a nurse at Bells View Rest Home and was of the Christian faith. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and watching Dr. Stanley on T.V.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Henry David Rankin; siblings, Glenn L. Wellman, John H. Wellman, Thomas R. Wellman, Zachery Wellman, Chalma Wellman.
Those left to cherish and honor Emma’s memories include: her children, Renardaiti Linney and wife, Stefanie, Dupree Rankin, Travina Davidson, Travis Rankin; her grandchildren, Kendra King and husband, Terrence, Chalisa Flowers, Deltrich Lewis and wife, Fantasia, Albanee Lackey, Markcavious Parsons, Emily Lanier, Angel Lanier, and a host of other grandchildren; her great-grandchildren, Kamren King, Kassie King, Khalia King, Maliya Welch, Jaxson Welch, Nova Lewis, Na’vaya Taylor, Ii’yahna Little John, A’niya Lackey, Morgan Parsons, Carter Parsons, and a host of other great-grandchildren; her siblings, Kathy J. Wellman, Larry Wellman, Clayton B. Wellman, William G. Wellman, Jackie Wellman; special niece, Sheryl Wellman-Bye; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from Noon until 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1 p.m. in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sterling Howard will officiate.
