Gary "Ford" Barlowe

Gary “Ford” Barlowe, age 72, of Taylorsville, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Gary was born December 20, 1951 in Alexander County, the son of the late Odell Barlowe and Sybil Little Barlowe.

He was a member of Millersville Baptist Church, where he was active in the Baptist Men. He was also an usher. He was a man that loved the Lord and his church family.

Earlier in his working career he worked in the furniture industry, later working to clean up America as the #1 junk man.

He was always helping in his community as a care taker or whatever his neighbors needed. He was a one of a kind legend in the Wittenburg Community.

Including his mother, those left to honor and cherish his memories include: his wife, Kathryn Compton Barlowe; his daughter, Lisa Barlowe Strickland of Charlotte; his son, Coty Barlowe (Ashley) of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Asher Strickland, Trinity Barlowe; mother-in-law, Jolene Compton; sister-in-law, Karen Moses, brother-in-law, Deron Compton; brother, Clayton Barlowe of Taylorsville; Gary’s nieces, DeeDee Canter, Tara Wooten; Gary’s nephews, Ryan Barlowe, Naaman Marshburn, Michael Marshburn; numerous other friends also survive.

The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Millersville Baptist Church. Pastor Bill Orren will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. prior to the service.
