Hal Luke Rogers, age 93, of Taylorsville, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
Luke was born June 16, 1931 in Alexander County, the son of the late D. Roy Rogers and Gussie Chapman Rogers.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Estelle Jenkins Rogers; siblings, Margaret Robinette, Rose Bolick, Wayne Rogers, Roy C. Rogers.
Luke & Estelle spent most of their working careers in Charlotte, NC. Luke working for Bumgarner & St. Clair Produce Co. He then went on to work as a manager at Rogers Unloading Services where he developed many close friendships. He worked well into his 80s. They moved back to Taylorsville in the mid-90s and built a home on some of the original family property. He loved God, his family, his friends and his church, and he was extremely devoted to them all. He was so thankful and humble with life, and passed all his accolades on to God. He was a very hard worker, and he was always willing to give a helping hand to others. He loved working with horses, especially with family and friends, and continuing the family tradition of having horses on the property for well over 100 years.
Those left to cherish and honor his memory include: his sons, Tim (Tara) Rogers of Taylorsville, Nelson (Lesha) Rogers of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Nicole (Liam) Bailey, Lauren (Kris) Martinez, Christopher (Katherine) Rogers, Kelly (Barrett) Mitchell, great-grandchildren, Luke Rogers, Thomas Bailey, Rose Rogers, Duke Martinez, Hampton Mitchell, Grace Bailey, Deacon Martinez, Charlotte Martinez, Avett Mitchell; siblings, James Karr Rogers, Katherine Fox, Joann Kerley, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Three Forks Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Three Forks Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors accorded by Alexander County Veterans Honor Guard. Dr. Carson Moseley to officiate along with Dr. W. Mike Runion.
