Harold Osborne Obituary

Mr. Harold Gene Osborne,72, of Boomer, passed away on Tuesday August 9, 2022 at his residence. 

Harold was born on December 17, 1949 in Wilkes County to Luther Osborne and Hazel Margaret Wyatt Osborne.

Harold wore many hats proudly, husband, dad, pawpaw, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin friend and more. He was a people’s person for sure, never met a stranger and loved to talk to anyone he met.  He adopted sons and daughters everywhere we went.  He was still doing it in the hospital, adopting nurses, doctors and the housekeeping crew. Before retiring Harold had many jobs, his main job was computer consulting, developing, designing and writing computer programs. These programs were used to run with specialized machines for women’s intimate apparel and hospital supplies, such as blood filters and compression stocking.  His work took him to many states and countries, he lived for many years in southern California.  Harold enjoyed spending time with his family and spoiling his grandson’s.    

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Hazel Osborne; brother, Gary Osborne; father-in-law, Burton Laws and mother-in-law, Barbara Laws. 

Harold is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joan Laws Osborne of the home; daughter Sarita Johnson and husband, Andrew; son, Dexter Osborne, all of Boomer; sister, Rita Shepherd and husband, Rex of McGrady; grandsons, Radley and Roscoe Johnson of Boomer; sister-in-law, Sarah Laws of Boomer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rennie and Katie Turley of Traphill; niece’s, Tyiezza and Gloria Shepherd, Renee Melara; nephews, Burton Adams, Zachariah Turley; aunts, Frances Clark and Nora Green; great-nieces and nephews, Tesia Adams, Dalton and Kesley Smithy, Jessen Melari, Damien Brown, Zavian Worthing and many special cousins and friends. 

Upon the request of the family, there will be no visitation or services at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Mountain Valley Hospice, 968 North Bridge Street Elkin, NC 28621 or the donor’s favorite charity.
