Hazelene Bentley Munday, age 88, of Statesville, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at her home.
Hazelene was born April 7, 1937, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Ambrose Thorton Bentley and Ruby Jane Daniels Bentley.
She worked for Zimmers Inc. for 11 years and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Hiddenite. She loved working in the yard especially with her flowers. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Angelia Keever; a son, Joseph Tyler Munday; sister, Julia Mae McCurdy and a brother, Belva Bentley.
Those left to cherish and honor Hazelene’s memories include: her husband of 68 years, James Junior Munday of the home; her daughters, Debbie Munday of the home, Dana Threatte (Scott), Pamela Locke (Richard) all of Iredell County; her grandchildren, Jason Childers (Bobbi), Rocky Keever (Jhie), Russell Keever (Amber), Tyler Threatte (Tia), Katelynn Smith (Sammy), Alacey Windsor (Bryan), Elisa Locke Gibson (Bryce); her great-grandchildren, Devin Minton, Charlotte Keever, William Keever, Evelyn Keever, Memphis Smith, Skyler Smith (Cadence), Adell Threatte, Maci Windsor, Levi Windsor; her twin brother, Bobby Jean Bentley; her sister-in-law, Patsy Bentley; and a number of other family members and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Freedom Baptist Church in Hiddenite. Pastor Dr. Sam Vallini will officiate. Burial will follow in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Statesville.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the service.
