Hobert Gene Jones, age 79, of Taylorsville, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020 in Oregon with family members.
Hobert was born July 3, 1940 in Cricket, NC, the son of the late Oscar Newton Jones and Rosie Ellen Nelson.
He was a US Army National Guard veteran. He had worked in the furniture industry before retiring and was of the Baptist faith. He preached for many years and was a member of the Oak Grove Boys Quartet. He loved his family, loved his dog, “Benny”, enjoyed fishing and reading his Bible.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife of almost 60 years, Sarah Charlotte Jones; a sister, Edna JoAnn Taylor: a brother, Herbert Dean Jones.
Those left to cherish and honor his memory include: his daughters, Kathy Jene Jones of WA, Karen Jones Canipe and husband, Thomas, of Taylorsville; his sons, Alan Ray Jones of OR, Dennis Eugene Jones of WA; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Virginia Dare Hash; his brothers, Eddie Lee Jones, James Albert Jones, Jimmy Dale Jones, Charles Harold Jones; number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Noon, Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Hiddenite Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
