Jacqueline "Jackie" Lynn (Phalen) Wait

Mrs. Jacqueline “Jackie” Lynn Phalen Wait, 55, of Moravian Falls passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2025 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital Medical Center in Winston Salem.

Jackie was born on September 30, 1969 in Montgomery County, Maryland to Jack Edwin Phalen and Ruby Jean Lynn. 

Jackie’s heart and home were always open to all people and animals.  She went above and beyond for all, joyfully feeding them, loving them, and caring for them in any way she could. Jackie enjoyed the outdoors with her children, including backpacking, rock climbing, waterskiing, and anything else her kids were into.  She dedicated herself to serving others in both her private and professional life as a healthcare provider and a minister’s wife.  Her ministry and dedicated involvement in her local church was a blessing to all those she served.  Her beloved animals, a horse named Ruby, a dog named Zeke, and Lady Freddie The Cat will miss her dearly.

 Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ruby Phalen, and grandparents, Robert and Opal Lynn. 

Jackie is survived by her husband of 30 years, Pastor Jeff Scott Wait; daughters, Kara Ruegsegger (Connor), Abigail Wait; sons, Nathan Wait, Seth Wait; grandchildren, Hayleen Wait, Amaria Wait; sister, Janice Huggins (Bill); niece, Sydney Huggins. 

 A visitation will be held from 1:00-1:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Wilkesboro Seventh-day Adventist Church in Moravian Falls.  The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Wilkesboro Seventh-day Adventist Church in Moravian Falls. Burial will be at a later date in the Collegedale Memorial Park Cemetery in Tennessee.   

Chaplain Evan Adams will be officiating.
