Mr. James “Bobby” Church, 91 of Ferguson passed away on January 28, 2026 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center.
Bobby was born on January 27, 1935 in Wilkes County to Albert Church and Bessie Eller Church.
He was a good man who loved his family and his church, he was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
Bobby enjoyed golf, fishing, traveling, watching basketball and listening to county music.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents; son, Micheal Harless; sisters, Edna Crotts. Iris Church, Melba Barnette; brothers, Cears Church, Ralph Church, Jimmy Church, Edwin Church.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 34 years Maxine Church of the home; sons, Kerry Church (Sandra) of Ferguson, Tony Harless (Pam) of West Jefferson; sister, Doris C. Kearney of Pfafftown; brother, Llyod Church of Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Colby Church (Meredith) of Nashville TN, Nickki Parsons (John) of West Jefferson and 5 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 1:00p.m.-1:45 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
The Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Rev. Kevin Brown and Rev. Donnie Shumate will be officiating.
