James Franklin “Bud” Holloway,86, of Millers Creek passed away after a lengthy decline in health. He was called to his eternal home Saturday, September 2, 2023.
James was born November 19, 1936 in Wilkes County to the late James Richard Holloway and Eula Mae Staley Holloway.
James retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections after 34 years as superintendent, he was fondly known as Captain Holloway. He served as a Deacon of Parkway Baptist Church and at the time of his death was a member of Union Baptist Church, Wilbar. James enjoyed the company of others, keeping a garden, camping and could be found “tinkering” on something most any day. James always had a great love and adoration for family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
James had expressed many times his anticipation and longing to go to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior and reunited with his wife and many others.
While our hearts are sad, we are comforted by knowing he has been welcomed into the light of Heaven and is where he longed to be. He will be remembered as a caring and giving man, and will live on in our hearts and memories until we meet again.
James served in the U.S Army as a Sergeant in the early 1960s for four years.
