James "Howard" Tevepaugh

Mr. James “Howard” Tevepaugh SR, age, 89, of Moravian Falls passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020 at his home. 

James was born on March 14, 1931 in Wilkes County to Thomas Cansler Tevepaugh and Mary Clete Barnette Tevepaugh.

James is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill, Thomas and Austin Tevepaugh and sisters, Lulie, Zella Tevepaugh and Maggie Lee Hayes. 

James is survived by his wife Shirley Elizabeth Dula Tevepaugh; son, James Tevepaugh Jr of Brushy Mountain; daughters, Shelia Hamby and husband, Junior of Boomer, Phyllis Keistler and husband, Mark of Statesville, Cynthia Tevepaugh (Ken Eller) of Brushy Mountain; 4 grandchildren, Candy Bowman and husband, Jason of Taylorsville, Nichols Carson and wife, Christina of Madien, Thomas Tevepaugh and Chancelor Tevepaugh both of Brushy Mountain and 4 great grandchildren. 

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church in Brushy Mountain.  Mr. Tevepaugh will lie in state from 2:30-3:00 p.m.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Rev. Roger Elmore will be officiating. 

Military honors will be provided by VFW post 1142
