Jay Lynn Bunton

            Jay Lynn Bunton, age 84, of Hiddenite, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Gordon Hospice House.

            Jay was born August 13, 1940, in Alexander County, the son of the late Ray Albert Bunton and Lydia Poole Bunton.

            Jay had worked in the furniture industry and was a member of Hiddenite Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and loved family gatherings. He loved the outdoors, hunting and watching the hummingbirds.

            Including his parents, he was preceded in death by: his first wife of 46 years, Carol Marlowe Bunton; his sisters, Edna Marlowe, Betty Brown; his brother, Bill Bunton.

Those left to cherish and honor Jay’s memories include: his wife of 16 years, Hilda Bradshaw Bunton of the home; his children, Donna Honeycutt of Maiden, Michael Bunton (Kathy) of Hiddenite, Cynthia Sacona (Jason) of Hiddenite; his grandchildren, Heath Honeycutt (Peggy), Wesley Honeycutt, Jenna Adams (Clark), Molly Cox (Jake), Tristan Walker (Courtney), Grey Sacona; six great-grandchildren and one on the way; his sisters, Joann Hayes of Woodlands, TX, Sylvia Miller (Cliff) of Rockwell, NC; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2025, at Hiddenite Baptist Church. Pastor Zack Deal and Pastor Heath Honeycutt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Berea Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
