Joan Bottoms Smith, age 76, of Taylorsville, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Sherrills Ford Hospice House.
Joan was born January 18, 1950, in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late Gurney Bottoms and Lena Mitchell Bottoms.
Joan was a homemaker for most of her life and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she was very active with the Senior Adults and Sunday school class. She loved gardening especially her flowers.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her sister, Faye Campbell; brothers, Frank Bottms, Jerry Bottoms, Michael Bottoms, and Clyde Bottoms.
Those left to cherish and honor Joan’s memories include: her husband of almost 51 years, Dale Smith of the home; her brothers, Allen Bottoms, Gene Bottoms, Jesse Bottoms all of Statesville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Bethlehem Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dean Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
