Judy Kay Reese Nance, 79, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 24, 2026.
Judy was born April 19, 1946 to Lloyd Lee Reese and Mae Hefner Reese of Alexander County, NC. Judy was known from a young age for her brilliance, intelligence, and academic disposition, as well as her deeply loving and caring nature.
As a young woman, she met and married Jerry Michael Nance, who would become her husband of 61 years. Jerry and Judy were known for their cohesive, strong, and admirable relationship, in which they worked closely together until her death. They had two children, Brent Nance and Kelly Nance, whom she raised with the same love she brought to everything else.
Judy was also a devout woman of faith. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1971, after which she faithfully served Jehovah God in the Taylorsville congregation until her death. She was known within the congregation for the same love her family knew her for, as well as her attention to detail and her ability to remember everyone, including their names and their individual needs.
Judy spent 30 years working diligently in income tax service before retiring to serve as a caretaker for her family. She was a meticulous homemaker, gardener, and organizer. Judy never met a task she couldn’t improve upon or organize further, to a degree that few could match. Judy loved and took immense pride in her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and in the many other titles she held. In all things, Judy was known for her brilliance, her deep care for others, and her love.
Judy is survived by her husband Jerry Nance; her sons Brent Nance (wife Laura) and Kelly Nance; her grandson Jay Nance, her granddaughter Brenna Nance; her brothers Dwight Reese (wife Jeannette) and Neil Reese, her sister Sharon Melton (husband Buddy); along with many nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd Lee Reese and Mae Hefner Reese and her brothers Jimmy Leon Reese and Alan Wayne Reese.
The memorial service will be held on April 4, 2026 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 455 Millersville Rd, Taylorsville, NC 28681. The family will receive friends from 2:00–3:00 PM with the service beginning at 3:00 PM.
