Linda Jeane Harris Byers, age 83, of Stony Point, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Gordon Hospice House.
Linda was born August 24, 1941, in Iredell County, the daughter of the late J. C. Harris and Lucille Johnson Harris.
Linda graduated from Central School in 1959 and Davis Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She worked at Davis Hospital and then for Dr. George Eckley, and the last 16 years for Dr. Ben Bowen, she enjoyed helping with care and treatment of patients.
Linda was a member of Island Ford Baptist Church, where she played the piano and enjoyed singing. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, canning vegetables and fruits, making cakes. She also enjoyed making cheese balls for friends and neighbors at Christmas. She loved the outdoors, nature and its beauty, and all her animals.
Those left to cherish and honor Linda’s memories include: the love of her life, who she married on August 10, 1963, Doyte Vance Byers, they shared many years of happiness; her daughter, Mary Ann Benfield (Barry); special nephew, Brian DeJarnette (Tara); along with several others nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, brothers and sisters-in-law.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Zach Deal will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
