Lois Millsaps Obituary

Lois Wiles Millsaps, age 83 of Hiddenite, passed away after an extended illness on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.   

Lois was born November 8,1937 in Alexander County, to the late Emerson Peter Wiles and Minnie Johnson Wiles. 

She was a graduate of Hiddenite High School and a retired self-employed poultry farmer.  She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church in Hiddenite. She loved to sing gospel music and sang in several groups over the years including, The Shepherd’s Quartet, Alexander Singing Seniors, and the church choir.  She was wonderful cook and loved gardening and preserving fruits and vegetables.  Lois loved spending time with her eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, who called her Mamoo, and she loved spending time with them.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, three infant siblings, Jimmie Hall Wiles, Elizabeth Ann Wiles and Judy Carol Wiles, a sister Betty Wiles Hedden of Princeton, Indiana, brother-in-laws Jennis Millsaps, Jerry Barnes, and Jimmy Adams, sisters-in-laws Lorene Wallace (Jake) and Emogene Barnette.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years Bobby Ray Millsaps of Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilkesboro, Children Danny R. Millsaps (Donna), Philip Lynn Millsaps (Gail), Christopher Joel Millsaps (Gina) all of Hiddenite. Grandchildren:  Adam Millsaps (Natalie), Lydia Gwaltney (Aron), Daniel Millsaps (Katelyn), Aaron Millsaps (Heather), Jonathan Millsaps (FiancĂ©e Jesse Bost), Matthew Millsaps, Brayden Millsaps, and Brenna Millsaps. Great-Grandchildren: Carson and Chase Millsaps, Malachi, and Beau Gwaltney, Rhett Millsaps, Cheyanne Keller, Braidon, Stormalynne, and Serenity Millsaps.  Sisters:  Evelyn Barnes, and Doris Adams both of Taylorsville, Brother-in-Laws: Larry Millsaps (Joy) of Hiddenite and Billy Millsaps (Cozette) and sister-in-law: Louise Millsaps both of Taylorsville.  

The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church on Monday July 19, 2021.  Rev. Harold Joplin, Rev. James Safrit, and Rev. Dennis Barnette will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 2:30-4:00 pm prior to the service at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are Adam Millsaps, Daniel Millsaps, Aaron Millsaps, Jonathan Millsaps, Matthew Millsaps and Brayden Millsaps.
