Mary Ellen Warren Herman, age 81, of Taylorsville, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 7, 1944, in Alexander County to the late Royd Warren and Gaynell Icenhour Warren Elder, Mary Ellen was a proud 1963 graduate of Taylorsville High School. The late Lonnie Elder was her stepfather since a young age following the death of her father.

Known for her gentle smile, infectious laugh, and fun-loving spirit, Mary Ellen brought joy to everyone around her. She was a gifted cook, a passionate gardener, and always ready for an adventure. Through most of her career, she served as an Administrative Assistant for Herman Trucking and St. Luke Lutheran Church. A woman of deep faith, she was a dedicated member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, the Hope Circle, and a charter member of Reformation Lutheran Church.

She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Angela Dawn Herman, and her sisters, Linda Warren Simon, Nora Jane Elder Teague, and Stephanie Elaine Elder Schultz.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of 60 years, Clyde Herman of the home; daughters, Amber Darice Herman and Anita Diane Herman (Randy Holbrook); son, Andrew David Herman (Natasha); granddaughters, Nichole Barnes (Brandon) and Hannah Herman (Jason); and six beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Kenneth Warren, Carson Elder (Sookyung), and Paul Elder (Mary); brothers-in-law, John Simon and Virgil Schultz; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; dedicated caregivers, Sylvia Crouch, Penny Harris, Phyllis Mays, Alicia Miller, Barbara Campbell, Teresa Fox, Abby Pyatte; and her Hope Circle Sisters in Christ.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. James Dahl.
