Mary Patsy “Pat” Hawkins Shumate, 75, of Hays passed away on March 13, 2023 at her. home.
Pat was born August 18, 1947 in Sussex County Delaware to Albert Lee Hawkins and Gurthie Madeline St. John Hawkins.
Pat enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening, tending flowers and watching Days of Our Lives in the afternoon. She loved her dog, Rowdy who was a constant companion.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester Ray Shumate; brothers, Ashley Hawkins, Wilburn Hawkins; granddaughter, Alicia Bauguess and great grandson, Mason Barker.
Patsy is survived by her daughters, Denise Williams Shumate of Hays, Dora Williams of Traphill; sons, Glen Williams (Cassandra) of Hays, James Williams of Traphill: sisters, Barbara Caudill (Pete) of Hays, Jane Ensley of South Carolina, Texas Wyatt (Ernest) of North Wilkesboro; brothers, Arnold Hawkins, Tony Hawkins, Robin Hawkins all of Hays, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
No services are planned.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes to help with final expenses.
