Michael Matheson, age 68, of Taylorsville, passed away unexpectedly, on Monday, January 6, 2025, at his home.
Michael was born January 20, 1956, in Valdosta, GA, the son of the late Earl Matheson and Carolyn Brinkley Matheson.
Michael retired from CommScope after 33 years; he was best known as “Speedy” and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He enjoyed flying, he started at an early age with his father. He later became a private pilot. He also enjoyed riding on his Harley Davidson, where he took numerous rides to the mountains and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish and honor Michael’s memories include: his wife of 37 years, Karen Dagenhart Matheson of the home; his daughter, Nicole Simerly and husband, Jamie); his sons, Brad Mundy and wife, Elizabeth, Phil Mundy; his grandchildren, Caleb Simerly and wife, Kacey, Hannah Simerly, Sarah Greene and husband, Caleb, Zachary Mundy, Ella Mundy, Axel Mundy; his great-grandchild, Jaxon Greene; his brother and sister-in-law, Rickey and Judy Hammer; brother-in-law, Donald Mitchell.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Jamie Simerly will officiate.
