Mildred Herman Wike, age 95, of Taylorsville, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Gordon Hospice House.
Mildred was born November 26, 1929, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Johnny Herman and Ada Pennell Herman.
Earlier in her working career, she worked for Broyhill furniture for many years, and later for Deal Apple Orchards. She was the oldest and faithful member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling in her early years, she took pride in her housekeeping.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Burpee Wike; and a brother, Roland Herman.
Those left to cherish and honor her memories include: her sons, Jimmy Wike (Libby) of Taylorsville, Keith Wike (Vicki) of Stony Point, Jackie Wike (Kathy) of Taylorsville, Daryl Wike (Mary) of Hiddenite; her grandchildren, Jamie “Fred” Wike (Brooke), Geoff Wike (Ashley), Robbie Wike, Kristin Huffman (Andy), Michelle Tobias (Jim), Bradley Wike, Jaclyn Mahler (Kade), Andy Wike, Taylor Wike; several great-grandchildren; her sisters, Bonnie Little of Taylorsville, Glenda Clontz of Conover; her brother, Don Herman (Jean) of Taylorsville; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. Dr. James Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m., prior to the service.
Pallbearers include: Jamie “Fred” Wike, Geoff Wike, Andy Wike, Bradley Wike, Andy Huffman, and Jim Tobias.
Memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
