Mr. Woodrow Harold and Mrs. Barbara Ann Fortner

Mr. Woodrow “Harold” Fortner, 78 of North Wilkesboro, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Health Wilkes Medical Center.

Harold was born on February 18, 1943 in Wilkes County to Helm Woodrow Fortner and Clara Pauline Kilby Fortner.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents and wife Barbara Ann Minton Fortner. 

Harold is survived by his daughter, Tracie Fortner of North Wilkesboro; sisters, Virginia Deal and husband, Connie of Taylorsville, Grace Reed and husband, Alton of Granite Falls; bothers, Wade Fortner and wife, Junellyn, Olin Fortner and wife, Joyce all of Moravian Falls and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Barbara Ann Minton Fortner, 74, of North Wilkesboro, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Health Wilkes Medical Center.

Barbara was born on November 18, 1946 in Wilkes County to Herman Clyde Minton and Emma Magdalene Mahaffey Minton. 

Barbara is preceded in death her parents and husband, Woodrow “Harold” Fortner.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Tracie Fortner of the home; sister, Kathi Minton of North Wilkesboro; brothers, Ronnie Minton and wife, Mary Jane of Wilkesboro, Jeffrey Minton and wife, Lisa of Ronda and many nieces and nephews.

The family will conduct a graveside service for Mr and Mrs. Fortner  on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church cemetery.  Pastors Rex Eldreth and Derek Kilby will be officiating.  

Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 1142 and the US Navy Honor Guard.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Pilgrim Baptist Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1517 Millers Creek, NC 28651.
