Rachel Hager Obituary

Rachel Webster Hager, age 80, of Taylorsville, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. She was born May 16, 1943 in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Pansy Artie Webster.

Rachel was raised in Taylorsville, and she had a deep love for her hometown. She enjoyed sharing memories of her childhood, like her grandfather reading the Bible, gardening with her mother, her cousins playing bluegrass music, walking to town on dirt roads and going to square dances. She worked in the textile and furniture industry for over 40 years sharing wonderful friendships with her co-workers at the Glove Mill, Taylor Togs, Blue Bell and Alexvale. She loved her church, her pastor and her church family. As a mother, she taught her children to go to church, serve the Lord, and take care of your family, friends and neighbors. As a friend she was kind, compassionate and encouraging.

In her pastime, she loved watching Westerns, listening to B-86 Radio and southern gospel music. Her favorite place was rocking on the front porch, cup of coffee in hand, watching flowers bloom, birds build their nests and grandchildren playing in the yard. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and teaching them to love each other and the Lord. She will be missed by many and our memories of her will be cherished forever.

Including her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anjel Webster.

Those left to cherish and honor her memories include: her daughters, Kimberly Hammer (Pat Register) of Monroe, Marshand Hager of Greensboro, Amanda Hager of Taylorsville; her grandchildren, Christopher Hammer (Heather Lewis), Jennifer Anderson (James Jenkins), Rebecca Shaun (Joshua Kent), Isaiah Howell, Sidney Farley, River Hager; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Judy Southers of Taylorsville; a niece, Pamela Southers (Chuck Collins); special loved ones, Teresa Bonnstetter, Sheila and Jerry Lackey, Randy and Shelby Mitchell; and a number of other beloved friends and cherished relatives.

The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Stephen Dagenhart and Pastor Taylor Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in the Harrington Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the Taylorsville Baptist Camp Meeting (In care of Kevin Payne, 2570 Goble Rd, Hiddenite, NC 28636) or Harrington-Webster Cemetery (In care of Larry Harrington, 5790 N NC 16 Hwy, Claremont, NC 28610).
